Help Us Save Lives Through Trap-Neuter-Release! ๐พ๐
Feral and stray cats deserve compassion, not suffering. At the Humane Society of Hobart, our Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program is a humane and effective solution to controlling the stray cat population, reducing the number of homeless kittens, and improving the lives of community cats.
๐พ What is TNR?
Trap-Neuter-Release is a life-saving program that helps feral and stray cats live healthier, safer lives. Hereโs how it works:
1๏ธโฃ Trap โ Feral cats are safely humanely trapped by trained volunteers.
2๏ธโฃ Neuter/Spay & Vaccinate โ The cats receive spay/neuter surgery and essential vaccinations to prevent disease.
3๏ธโฃ Ear-Tipping โ A small tip of the ear is painlessly removed to identify that the cat has been sterilized.
4๏ธโฃ Release โ The cat is returned to its outdoor home, where it can live a safer, healthier life without reproducing.
๐พ Why TNR Matters:
โ๏ธ Prevents Overpopulation โ One unspayed female cat can produce hundreds of kittens in her lifetime.
โ๏ธ Reduces Suffering โ Stops the cycle of disease, starvation, and homelessness.
โ๏ธ Protects Community Cats โ Allows them to live safely in managed colonies while preventing future litters.
โ๏ธ Is Proven Effective โ Studies show that TNR reduces feral cat populations over time while improving their health and behavior.
